AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden rituals and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre tests and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Features
Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
