Despite embarking on their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
