The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
